Mini-symposium: COFFEE RUSH

Event
September 19th, 2018 - 10h00
Campus de Vairão’s Auditorium
Coffee production and trade is one of the most important economic activities in the world, and Portugal, not being a coffee producer, has played a very important role in maintaining this activity. We invite you to come find out the importance of Portugal for this extraordinary crop, and what the most recent genomic and breeding approaches can do for this universally appreciated but actually threatened drink!

We will have among us two researchers from the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD) from Montpellier, France, who are involved in the study of the evolution of the genomes of coffee species and in the development of new breeding approaches, and a researcher from the CIBIO-InBIO group PLANTBIO, who is developing a project with coffee varieties that have been kept in the national territory for decades, at Centro de Investigação das Ferrugens do Cafeeiro (CIFC) in Oeiras.

This mini-symposium is being promoted by the BIOPOLIS project for Campus de Vairão, being prepared by CIBIO-InBIO and the University of Montpellier.

Do not miss this "Coffee Rush" on September 19, Wednesday, at 10h00 in Campus de Vairão’s Auditorium!
