Epigenetics: concepts and techniques - an introduction

Event
November 23rd, 2023
Online Event

23 - 23 November 2023

This training course is an introduction to concepts and methodologies in epigenetics for students, investigators and technicians in the field of ecology and evolution. It is suitable for both animal and plant scientists.
It will present important concepts and definitions in epigenetics, the main methodologies (e.g. ATAC-seq, bisulfite sequencing, ONT sequencing) and bioinformatic tools to analyse the data and kind of questions that can be addressed using these methods.
This training is part of the CNRS training catalog. Instructors are from the IHPE (http://ihpe.univ-perp.fr/), which has a strong activity in epigenetics (and a dedicated technical platform for epigenetics).

GOALS
- Understand the many perspectives and limits of epigenetic studies
- Know the different bearers of epigenetic information and their interactions
- Know the advantages and limitations of current methods and know how to choose them according to biological questions

PROGRAM (2x4 hours)
- Epigenetics: an introduction
- The bearers of epigenetic information and their corresponding analysis methods
- Which experimental approach for which question (animals and plants)?
